Carolyn Lappin

Executive Director

Carolyn was educated at Glasgow University, and began working in the arts front of house at the Citizens' Theatre in Glasgow. From 1984 until 2001 she worked with Scottish Youth Theatre as General Manager, also managing the Old Athenaeum Theatre. Carolyn has also been Administrator for Winged Horse Touring Productions, IPB Productions and Spontaneous Combustions, and has represented Scotland on the Board of the Independent Theatre Council. She joined Scottish Youth Dance as General Manager in January 2002.

Anna Kenrick

Acting Artistic Director

Anna trained at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance before working in London as freelance dancer and teacher. Anna then worked as a dance artist for The Place, Anjali Dance Company and Magpie Dance Company before joining Ludas Dance Company where she toured on a number of a productions over a five year period, before joining YDance in September 2007. Anna is also Project Director for the Free To Dance project.

 
 

Yvonne Young

Assistant Director

Yvonne graduated from Strathclyde University in 2000 with a BA Hon in Community Arts. After that she worked throughout Scotland as a freelance dance artist before joining YDance in 2003 as a dance worker on the 321 Go! Project. Yvonne has been a Dance Development Officer with YDance since 2006.

Victoria Ram

Projects Coordinator

Victoria started dancing at the age of the 3 and has performed internationally with a number of Companies including Lord of the Dance and The Irish Folk Ballet Company. She joined YDance in 2007 as Marketing Assistant was promoted to Marketing Officer in 2009 before changing career paths and taking up the role of Projects Coordinator in October 2010.


 
 

Esther Currie

Marketing Manager

Since beginning her arts Marketing career at MacRobert in 2001, Esther has worked for Perth Theatre & Perth Concert Hall and the Edinburgh International Festival.

Nicola Muir

Marketing & Business Development Assistant

An enthusiastic amateur dancer, Nicola graduated from Stirling University with a BA (Hons) in Marketing. Before joining YDance she worked as the Learning and Marketing Assistant at the Glasgow Film Theatre as well as freelancing for Opera Bohemia.


 
 

Denise McLeod

Office Administrator

Denise has vast experience in administration and finance, having worked for companies such as Informa Tech and M & D's Leisure prior to joining YDance.

Lauren Ferguson

Administrative Assistant

Lauren joined YDance in 2004 as Office Assistance. In 2006 her hard work for YDance resulted in a promotion to Administrative Assistant. Before that she was employed by office technology specialists NCS.

Lisa Yip

Dance Development Officer (Ayrshire)

Lisa trained at The Dance School of Scotland (part of Knightswood Secondary School) from age 12 and went on to study a Diploma in Dance & Musical Theatre at the London Studio Centre. She has danced professionally in a number of productions including Spirit of the Dance and Rouge en Dance as well as dancing on the Royal Variety Performance. Lisa has also worked a Freelance Dance Tutor delivering dance for a number of different organisations including Glasgow Active Schools, North and South Lanarkshire Councils and worked as Dance Development Officer for Right2Dance before joining YDance in August 2008.

Caroline Burnside

Dance Worker (Ayrshire - Maternity Leave)

Caroline began her dance career training with Ballet West and went on to study for a degree in dance and culture at the Laine Theatre Arts College. She worked as Arts Administrator at Dance Base before joining YDance as Dance Apprentice in 2004. In 2005 she was appointed as a full time Dance Tutor for the Dance in Schools Initiative which ran until 2008. Caroline has also choreographed a range of performances including cabaret and musical theatre styles.

 
 

Gillian Smith

Dance Worker (Ayrshire)

Gillian studied Dance at Anniesland College achieving an HND before going on to complete a BA in Dance at Edinburgh’s Telford College. She has worked as a Freelance Dance Tutor for YDance for over 5 years joining the Dance in Schools Initiative Team towards the end of 2007. Gillian is taking a 3 month sabbatical from her current YDance job in January 2009 to study Broadway Dance Centre in New York.

Sarah Smith

Dance Development Officer (Glasgow)

Sarah started dancing at the age of 3 and discovered a passion for contemporary dance in her teens. She went on to study dance full time and graduated from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds with a BA (Hons) in 2004. Sarah worked as a Freelancer for 6 months after graduating and then joined the YDance, Dance in Schools Initiative Team in 2005 staying through the full 3 years of the Project. She was appointed as Free To Dance Development Officer for Glasgow in August 2008.

Kelly Shearer

Dance Worker (Glasgow)

Kelly graduated from Anniesland College with an HND in Dance. The College also presented her with the Chairman’s Award for Overall Outstanding Achievement, which is awarded annually to the student who has made a major contribution to the wider work of the College in their community. Kelly’s teaching and choreographic credits include work for Anniesland College, Scottish Ballet, Dancehouse, South Lanarkshire Council (The Artsnet Project), Active Schools Glasgow and North Glasgow College.

 
 

Victoria Millen

Dance Development Officer (Orkney)

Vicky studied Dance at the London Studio Centre. She has been both a performer and freelance dance tutor for a number a years. She danced in the national tour of Dr Doolittle with Philip Schofield and was the Dance Captain for a production of Sleeping Beauty at the Kings Theatre, Glasgow. Vicky began working with YDance as a Freelancer in early 2005 and joined the Dance in Schools Initiative Team later that same year. She left YDance and moved to Orkney at the end of 2007, but rejoined the Company as Free To Dance Dance Development Officer for Orkney in August 2008.
