Scotland's Contemporary Youth Dance Company

Project Y

Project Y is Scotland's Contemporary Youth Dance Company which we established in 2006. It takes places over 4 weeks every July/August and is open to young dancers (16 to 21 year olds) who want to experience what it is like to work for a professional dance company.

In 2009 we also added a two week programme - Elements Company - designed to give participants the chance to really develop their technique and train towards being part of the Production Company in future years.

Extra Opportunities

Project Y Company members are often offered additional opportunities throughout the year. In previous years our participants went to Delhi to perform in the 2010 Commonwealth Games Flag Handover Ceremony and performed in the first joint performance by the National Youth Performing Companies of Scotland - Tam O'Shanter - which toured to Stirling Castle, Eden Court Theatre and Haddo House. In 2008 we undertook an exchange with a youth dance company from Marseille and previous Project Y participants have also performed at the Scottish Learning Festival 2008 (SECC), London 2012 Launch Event (George Square, Glasgow), Homecoming Scotland Launch (Edinburgh Castle 2008) and Go Dance 08! (Theatre Royal, Glasgow).
