TEACHER TESTIMONIAL

Choreographic is an excellent resource for secondary teachers of dance. It provides a comprehensive framework for delivering dance across the key stages, including examination courses such as GCSE and BTEC Dance. I found the most useful aspect of the resource is the study centre which is a complete breakdown of Action, Space, Dynamics & Relationships. Choreographic processes and features are described alongside pictures and diagrams accompanied by a wide range of video clips. This can be used as a point of reference or a source of inspiration for young people’s choreography. I find the resource enhances teaching and learning and provides an ideal opportunity to embed the use of ICT into every day teaching.

STUDENT TESTIMONIAL

Choreographic has provided me with new skills and a deeper understanding in the areas of choreography. It offers the chance to explore all elements of choreography through its text, visuals, diagrams, video footage and music. The study centre is extremely user-friendly, offering tutorials on how to use all the features. These features include the opportunity to watch video footage relating to the text, carrying out tasks and also the chance to read and learn about the components of dance, choreography and many other topics. Features such as the ‘mood board’ and the ‘dance log’ also enable users to keep a record of all their work including any pictures, text or ideas relating to their dance work. The theatre section also allows users to carry out the different movement tasks and re-create any images they may have from their mood board. Choreographic is both a fun and educational tool to use and also offers inspiration from their professional dance videos section.

STUDENT TESTIMONIAL

Choreographic is a great tool to help advance my choreographic knowledge as well as work on my own pieces. I found the study centre very useful as it was packed full of information. I liked the way all the information was broken into sections and there were diagrams, pictures and videos along with the text. I found the videos really helpful as they gave me a better understanding of the text and help to apply the theory to the reality. The tasks were a great way to get you thinking about dance and experimenting with different movements. The dance log is also handy as it allows me to jot down any ideas I have without having to open another programme. It also meant all my work is kept and saved together in the same place as you can create your own portfolio. I really like the mood board as I could arrange words and pictures which have inspired me. I used a lot of pictures of dance moves that I wanted to include within my piece on the mood board. Then I used the theatre section to recreate these images. Having access to professional dance footage is also very inspiring. Choreographic provides a number of tools to help you work on individual choreography as well as providing lots of inspiration and insight into other choreographic techniques.

TEACHER TESTIMONIAL

We use choreographic mainly for the study centre section, as we only teach up to 16 year olds. It has been extremely useful in terms of teaching key terms and giving good examples of practise linked to the idea. The clips linked to show the examples are good to create discussion and development ideas for the students.
